Have you ever seen roaches or rodents, and if you do, do you have an obligation to report them to the health inspector?

Asked by Darious almost 10 years ago

The only critters ive seen in our store would be the occasional ant or gnat in the lobby. Ive never seen a roach and NEVER any type of rodent. Im not sure if i would be obligated to report them to the health inspector but i would definitely inform my manager if i ever saw anything like that.

Does serving at the Waffle House count as valuable experience if you want to interview for a restaurant server position, or is it not taken seriously because it's just a low-end fast food joint?

Asked by Leila almost 10 years ago

I honestly wouldnt really know. I suppose it all depends on the employers perspective. If i were being interviewed for a fine dining type enviornment then it would probably be considered low on the scale of server experience. Upscale resturants have a different set of guidelines regarding "How to serve" properly, They would probably be concerned with the ability to break the "bad habits" of someone used to this type of enviornment. However, if i were to be interviewed for a job at a sports bar or different sort of family-like resturant, they may have a different opinion.

Do you think Waffle House's reputation for being kinda ghetto is fair, or is the food quality as good as other 'higher-class' fast food chains?

Asked by WH about 9 years ago

I think Waffle House is pretty much on par with any men tire class fast food restaurant. I think the reputation comes from the service you may experience. If you have a good server and a good cook and cares about the presentation of food and what he's cooking, then you may end up with some really good food otherwise not so much. that can be said for any restaurant of course

Do you get free Waffle House food, and if so are you absolutely sick of it by this point?

Asked by Danielle almost 10 years ago

Yes and No. Money is automatically taken out of our checks for meals, and we do have to pay for the larger more expensive meat items if we eat them (although they are largely discounted). However aside from that we can eat pretty much whatever we want so it does feel free.

And unfortunately i am not yet sick of the food lol

Are customers ever rude or condescending to you because you work at a Waffle House?

Asked by tdot almost 10 years ago

The customers are rude and condescencing ALL the time. Because i work the overnight shift we get lots of drunk people.. And i also live in a college town so plenty of young people. People are often impatient and un-sympathetic.

When you are providing a service people often expect that service to be completely smooth and un-interupted, They feel very much entitled to that and will let you know. You would probably be suprised to see how people treat myself and the people i work with.

You're only 22, how long do you see yourself working there? Is there an age by which you'd be depressed if you were still working at Waffle House?

Asked by Sammy almost 10 years ago

I see myself working there as long as it continues to be a good source of income and a decent platform to carry myself to my next goal.

And Yesterday. Lol

Do you make all the batter from scratch in-store, or is it all powdered or shipped in from elsewhere?
