I've officiated football for over 30 years, now in my 26th on the college level. I've worked NCAA playoffs at the Division II and III level. In addition, I've coached at the scholastic level and have been an educator for over 35 years. I have no interest whatsoever in being an NFL official! Ever!

If a QB attempting to spike the football spikes it behind him is that considered a fumble or a dead ball?

Suppose a receiver leaps to catch a ball over his head, hits the ground on his back, and slides out of bounds without his feet ever touching the ground in-bounds. Is that an in-bounds catch?

The opening kick off in the Dal/NYG game. The kick returner caught the kick with one foot in bounds and one foot out of bounds. I thought this was defined as a kick out of bounds and should have been a penalty against NYG/

In the most recent Rose Bowl, Alabama's Caleb Downs was ruled to have his heel down out of bounds. Before he jumps to make the INT his heel is not out of bounds and his toes are in the field of play. Why is this not sufficient to reestablish himself?

Is the forward spot pass still a legal play in the NFL and NCAA after a player catches a punt, kickoff, of drop kick and does not move forward?
