I've officiated football for over 30 years, now in my 26th on the college level. I've worked NCAA playoffs at the Division II and III level. In addition, I've coached at the scholastic level and have been an educator for over 35 years. I have no interest whatsoever in being an NFL official! Ever!

NFL kickoff . Receiver allows ball to sail over head into endzone and trots off field. Ref blows whistle. But what if kickoff from 50 and kicking team is very close and wants to recover ball in end zone? Will ref still blow whistle and stop play?

Player is in end zone, reaches over goal line to catch ball but ball never crosses goal line, tackled into field of play. TD cuz player is established in end zone, or no TD cuz ball never crosses goal line?

In the Steelers-Bengals game today the Steelers kicked off. The Bengals returner touched the ball on the 2 yard line and it went into the end zone. He recovered the ball and was tackled in the end zone. It was a touchback. That ball is not live?
