Ive been a waitress at waffle house for quite awhile now. I take orders and generally try to cater to, and please even the most difficult customers. I enjoy my job, However there are always obstacles when dealing with so many human beings. Ask me anything!
As much as id like to answer that, I honestly have no idea what the owner of our restaurant makes.
**Out of curiousity i had a conversation with my manager and the owner makes more than 6-figures!
At our particular waffle house I do believe the kitchen is fairly sanitary. Admittedly we do at times use our hands to touch food items, Most often BEFORE the cooking process as we are constantly moving very quickly to get things out to our customers. But we also all wash our hands about every 30 mins. We just had a health inspection and pass with 100%.
I cannot however speak for EVERY location.
My favorite customers are the ones who are happy, pleasant and understanding. I dont care how needy they are as long as they treat me with respect.
My Least favorite customers are just the opposite of that. We have PLENTY people come in that are just plain Hostile from the moment they arrive. They are impatient, rude and ungrateful, also they dont tip. They cannot be satisfied and they treat you like garbage. Unfortunately we get ALOT of these people. We just learn to deal with them in the best way we can.
We arent trained at all on how to respond to a robbery! It would probably be a good idea to train the overnight staff such as myself, how to effectively react.
Also, as mentioned before, on certian nights we do have a deputy stay with us for several hours for security. Other than the its up to the individuals to react however they deem necassary.

I work the overnight shift 9pm-7am and i assure you we DO get alot of unruly people overnight, drunk or not. Every Fri and Sat night (busiest times) we have an officer who comes and sits inside our store. He's there for several hours until most of the bar/club rushes are over with. He's there to ensure our safety, manage large crowds and help deal with drunks/rude people.
He is awesome btw. :-)
Management is absolutely aware of it. They often have to deal with it themselves. Like most places Waffle House tries to enforce a "Every customer leaves happy" policy to ensure that people dont complain to corporate and keep coming back to our stores.
I get paid a bit over $4 an hour.
The All Star meal. Similar to the Grand Slam at Denny's. It comes with a waffle, your choice of side, your choice of toast, and your choice of meat for under 10 dollars. It is the best deal on the menu.
