Just how profitable is your Waffle House? Is the owner making like mid 6-figures or higher?

Asked by icanteven over 11 years ago

As much as id like to answer that, I honestly have no idea what the owner of our restaurant makes.

**Out of curiousity i had a conversation with my manager and the owner makes more than 6-figures!

How sanitary is the kitchen in your opinion?

Asked by Javier over 11 years ago

At our particular waffle house I do believe the kitchen is fairly sanitary. Admittedly we do at times use our hands to touch food items, Most often BEFORE the cooking process as we are constantly moving very quickly to get things out to our customers. But we also all wash our hands about every 30 mins. We just had a health inspection and pass with 100%.

I cannot however speak for EVERY location.

Who are your favorite and least favorite types of Waffle House customers?

Asked by Jameson85 over 11 years ago

My favorite customers are the ones who are happy, pleasant and understanding. I dont care how needy they are as long as they treat me with respect.

My Least favorite customers are just the opposite of that. We have PLENTY people come in that are just plain Hostile from the moment they arrive. They are impatient, rude and ungrateful, also they dont tip. They cannot be satisfied and they treat you like garbage. Unfortunately we get ALOT of these people. We just learn to deal with them in the best way we can.

How are you trained to respond to an armed robbery?

Asked by bakedin9877 over 11 years ago

We arent trained at all on how to respond to a robbery! It would probably be a good idea to train the overnight staff such as myself, how to effectively react.

Also, as mentioned before, on certian nights we do have a deputy stay with us for several hours for security. Other than the its up to the individuals to react however they deem necassary.

Do you have security people to deal with really bad drunks who come into Waffle House late at night?

Asked by J Quellin over 11 years ago

I work the overnight shift 9pm-7am and i assure you we DO get alot of unruly people overnight, drunk or not. Every Fri and Sat night (busiest times) we have an officer who comes and sits inside our store. He's there for several hours until most of the bar/club rushes are over with. He's there to ensure our safety, manage large crowds and help deal with drunks/rude people.

He is awesome btw. :-)

Do you think Waffle House's reputation for being kinda ghetto is fair, or is the food quality as good as other 'higher-class' fast food chains?

Asked by WH over 10 years ago

I think Waffle House is pretty much on par with any men tire class fast food restaurant. I think the reputation comes from the service you may experience. If you have a good server and a good cook and cares about the presentation of food and what he's cooking, then you may end up with some really good food otherwise not so much. that can be said for any restaurant of course

Does serving at the Waffle House count as valuable experience if you want to interview for a restaurant server position, or is it not taken seriously because it's just a low-end fast food joint?

Asked by Leila about 11 years ago

I honestly wouldnt really know. I suppose it all depends on the employers perspective. If i were being interviewed for a fine dining type enviornment then it would probably be considered low on the scale of server experience. Upscale resturants have a different set of guidelines regarding "How to serve" properly, They would probably be concerned with the ability to break the "bad habits" of someone used to this type of enviornment. However, if i were to be interviewed for a job at a sports bar or different sort of family-like resturant, they may have a different opinion.
