"What's wrong with my mouse?" "Why doesn't this website work?" "How do I turn this computer on?" As an IT guy for a healthcare company, I get these and all sorts of other brilliant questions all day. It never ceases to amaze me how smart people can become so technologically 'dumb' as soon as they set foot in the office. But I suppose that's what happens when they know one of us IT guys is there to hold their hands. Ask me anything... and when in doubt, reboot.

How can I get around the block that my company puts on accessing Facebook?

Asked by luuuuuuke over 12 years ago

Well I can't stand facebook, so I dont have to worry about getting on there and building my fake farm or worry that someone woke up and will not accomplish anything today (other than posting on walls and reading updates all day) If you must and cant live without facebook use your smartphone or bring your laptop and hook up to some WiFi. Unless you work for a PR firm leave your social media addiction at home. It robs bandwidth for people that actually need the web to get their job done.

Have you ever been tempted to go over to the 'dark side'? Do you think there's more money to be made doing black- or grey-hat hacker stuff?

If you feel that lifestyle is necessary and dont care about karma go ahead. Me I keep things legit and work hard for all i have accomplished and that is more satisfying than scamming.

Has anyone tried to bribe you to get their IT problem pushed to the front of the queue? (And did you accept?)

Before someone hires you to do IT, is it just a regular interview process, or do they put you through some kind of "I.T. guantlet" where they wanna see you troubleshoot a few things first?

Hi, apparently someone i know is retrieving my deleted messages on my phone. He can even hack their numbers. He's using it to threaten me and the people around me. What should i do? I think he's using a software to retrieve it. I am on postpaid line
