For twenty years I officiated high school, AAU and park district basketball games, retiring recently. For a few officiating is the focus of their occupation, while for most working as an umpire or basketball referee is an avocation. I started ref'ing to earn beer money during college, but it became a great way to stay connected to the best sports game in the universe. As a spinoff, I wrote a sports-thriller novel loosely based on my referee experiences titled, Advantage Disadvantage
It is a judgement call. If hitting the ball, alters the shooters arm trajectory yhen no foul. But if the defender swipes wildly and would have hit the shooter anyway, then possibly a foul.
Assuming it is not considered taunting, play on.
I am going to allow the other team a movement toward the basket, but as soon as they reverse or dump out i stop the play, UNLESS the downed player is in immediate danger.
Violation.Thrown in for opposite team at previous throw in spot.

What was the craziest request you ever got from a guest? If the ball is dead there is no common foul. The ball is live when it is,at gge disposal of tge throw in player. I think teams wait so it looks less intentional.
I believe state rules and bylaws differ on this. Some states allow protests and replays, some do not.
Big mistake by the officials. The referee is supposed to check with the scorer before leaving the court at the end of the game. I am not sure what the remedy would be, because of conflicting principles : the game official score is the book maintained by the score keeper, the game is official when the referrees leave the confines of the court, and finally, most states do not have provisions for protesting the outcomes of gamed. For sure, the referee should be punished.
