Why are theaters usually so stingy about not bringing food in? I know they want to make money but most of the time snacks, drinks, etc are ridiculously overpriced.

The movie studios take 60-70 percent of each ticket sold. Theaters cost a lot to run and the only way to survive is on high priced concessions. Its similar to any sporting event or concert. They also don't want you to sneak food in because they need those concession sales to keep the place open. If too many people sneak food in, the theater will not make enough to pay their bills.

What question?

I get it but 14 dollars for a soda is kind of redonkulous

Asked by Bsnd almost 5 years ago

Not sure where they charge $14 for a soda but most theaters start between $4 and $7 for soda.

I have an independent movie theater in the community how can I purchase new movie in 2023

Oh LOL I was at one once that had them that price. I don’t mind paying a premium and many times they don’t really care if I bring something in. I have just seen some that where way over priced.
