Relative in prison >10 yrs w/o probs. Just moved to diff CI. Cellmate is drug dealer gang mbr, accused relative of theft, now fears for life. Wants me to call CI and ask for move to diff area. Will I make matters worse? He says no luck w/Warden.

I am not sure who or what Cl is. I am guessing you won't make anything worse, but can't figure it will make anything better. It is strange that they would put persons with some documentation of being potential enemies in the same cell together. You might try bucking it up to the state level and point out politely that if he gets hurt by a known, documented enemy who they put him in the same cell with there could be some unpleasant fallout, i.e. civil suit. That MIGHT get some action.

What do you think about house arrest?

Asked by Karen over 5 years ago

For some people it is completely appropriate. Non-violent non-repeat offenders with an actual home and with some sort of support structure are good risks. Especially with some sort of electronic monitoring.

What do you do with the body alarms?

Asked by Whats up cuz almost 6 years ago

Wear them, and push the button when it seems appropriate.

What do you do in the case of fire, tornados, earthquakes, etc? What about different units or departments?

Asked by COVID-19 almost 6 years ago

Don't get many tornados in CA. Fires are not too much of a problem, it is hard to burn reinforced concrete. Contents can make for a very smoky fire, bad for the guys in the cell, but its not like it will burn the building down. I was there for the World Series earthquake. We did a count right after to make sure nobody was injured, checked the fence for damage, then went on about our business. .

They crawl out from under the bridges to the public libraries and find sites like this to use for a few hours until the libraries close. Looks like the libraries are open again maybe

There is always the mission downtown, but I don't think their WiFi is as good as the library.

Why do so many people think Gorge Floyd was a race issue?

Asked by Parker over 5 years ago

A great many people only see RACE when you have negative interaction between White people and not-White people. Since they knew each other it is just as possible it was a personal issue, or even simply an asshole cop issue. But a lot of people get political power out of it being a race issue. (Plus maybe it was.)
