I deliver pizzas as a part-time, second job. It's a pretty good way to pick up some extra cash. Ask me anything!
Pepperoni.
I do use my own car. Pizza Hut does not use the delivery lighted signs on their delivery cars. I've always thought those things should say, "I'm a pizza delivery guy with money. Please rob me."
The way it works at my store is, if it's not there by 30 minutes after the promised time, you can call and get a discount. The operator tells me how much to discount it by and I take it from there. It doesn't cost me anything, except maybe a tip. I don't pay anything on anybody's order.
Yes, actually. My very first night delivering, I went to a house and an older man came to the door and said to bring the pizza in and set it on the table. The way the hallway was situated, I couldn't see into the house and was a little reluctant to go in. When I go around the corner, there's a lady in probably her mid-20's standing by the table wearing only a thong checking her text messages. Very uncomfortable wait for the guy to fill out his credit card slip to say the least.

How often would you find yourself in real danger?Luckily, I haven't been involved in an accident. Unless I just jinxed myself for my next shift with that answer.
I haven't gained any weight due to free pizza since I've been there. I don't eat it all the time, and when I do, it's usually all I eat that day.
I've found that most people tip $3 or $4 no matter the total of the order. Hourly rate is minimum wage while in the store, and $4.45 while out on a delivery.
I've never had that happen, but it seems unlikely it would. I don't hand you the pizza until you hand me the money. But if it did happen, I guess I'd call the store from their front porch. But that's about it, I'm not getting shot over some dumb pizza.
We had a couple kids call in a fake order last weekend. They paid with a credit card over the phone. Geniuses they were not.
Good question. You know the bag that the delivery guy pulls your pizza out of when he gets to your door? It's called a hot bag and it does a really great job of keeping the order hot. They are thermal insulated, so they can keep it hot for a long time - especially handy on busy nights when orders are running a little behind.
My largest tip was $15 from a guy at a hotel. When he opened the door, I could see and smell the pot smoke in the room. Not sure if he meant to tip that much or not. Either way, he should quit smoking pot.
I wasn't delivering then, so I wouldn't know.
Let me answer your question with a question. Do you ever get tired of people giving you something for free? I'm eating a slice of the free pizza I brought home with me tonight right now.
Nobody at my store has ever been robbed. A store in a neighboring city though has been robbed on multiple occasions in the past few months.
I personally have found that I love delivering to stoners. Every time I've done so, they pay in cash and usually give me more money than they thought they did. So a $3 tip can turn into a $13 tip really quick. Never been invited to join in, though I would pass if I ever was.
Usually unless something is obviously missing from an order like a box of wings or breadsticks, a customer won't notice a wrong order until after I've left. If they notice while I'm there, I'll offer to call the store and have someone bring the missed item, or they can take it off their total. If I've already left, they could call the store. I usually am pretty good about checking my orders before I leave the store, so I don't have this problem too often.
I've only been delivering about 3 months and only part time, so I haven't had a lot of huge orders. Probably $60 or $70 was the biggest so far.
