New York, NY

Female, 21

I was a model for Ford Models in NYC from 2009-2011, and just recently signed with Dorothy Combs models in Miami. I have experienced high fashion modeling, but I now have filled out my size 8/10 frame, and I represent the plus size beauties of the world. I have done runway, print, and showroom modeling. The field can be very fun and glamorous, but it is a business, and a harsh and cruel one at times.

What does your day look like when you're on set for a photo shoot?

Asked by chaseme! over 13 years ago

It is usually at least 5 hours of shooting for a normal day, but given the 3 hours or more to prepare with hair and makeup, the hours can get long and strenuous. It all depends on the specific shoot, it can be very intimate where it is just you and the photographer, but it can also be very upbeat and fun with a large team of people, music, and food (which, of course, the model cannot eat).

What's been the highlight of your modeling career?

Asked by JT over 13 years ago

My first cover for Madison Hill. Before I started modeling, it was my goal to have a cover.

I don't think a lot of the girls on modeling reality shows are even all that pretty...just what "look" are scouts or magazines going for these days?

Asked by brit over 13 years ago

I think that there is space for every look. There are height and weight requirements, but when it comes to shape of nose, eye color, hair color, etc., there is no bar. They are always looking for a look they do not already have on their board. Something unique that will catch someone’s eye. Beauty is relative to the viewer, and we have a world audience.

What advice would you give to a young girl who told you she wanted to be a model?

Asked by A over 13 years ago

I would tell her to get another hobby. I would not advise any young girl to get into professional modeling.

Which current models do you most admire and why?

Asked by seeme over 13 years ago

I admire Crystal Renn. Crystal got into modeling when she was 14, and was told she needed to lose a bit of weight. After years of suffering from anorexia nervosa, she started to develop healthy eating and exercise habits. She filled out her natural frame of a size 12, and has become one of, if not the, most successful plus-size models in the world.

What are the best and worst parts about being a model?

Asked by danca over 13 years ago

My favorite part about modeling is being able to collaborate with amazing photographers and designers to create art. My least favorite thing would have to be castings, they are long and tiring, especially considering on average only one out of five are successful.

What do you model? Print / runway / any particular type of clothing?

Asked by ranebow over 13 years ago

I’ve had the opportunity to explore pretty much every different type of modeling. My favorite has to be runway, through. It is such a rush, and it is fun to do couture runway with crazy wardrobe and makeup. It is almost like you are able to embody a whole new persona for the night.
