I was a model for Ford Models in NYC from 2009-2011, and just recently signed with Dorothy Combs models in Miami. I have experienced high fashion modeling, but I now have filled out my size 8/10 frame, and I represent the plus size beauties of the world. I have done runway, print, and showroom modeling. The field can be very fun and glamorous, but it is a business, and a harsh and cruel one at times.
Very. Mostly in the younger girls who can not withstand the pressure to be thin. You have to have a very strong sense of who you are and what you stand for before coming into an industry like this because if you have not developed self-esteem, you will see your worth become your image and only your image.
I can understand light retouching of photos, but when you photoshop a picture to the point that it does not even resemble the original, I see that as a waste of money, talent, and time, when you could have created it just from a computer. It also creates a false reality for the general public who view those photos and compare themselves to that which is not real...but that is a whole other story:)
I did not get discovered like a lot of models do. I actually sent my photos in online when I was 17 to any and every agency I could think of. I was the one-in-a-million that got lucky with Ford models online. Ah, the luxury of the world wide web.
