Have you ever caught someone trying to fill a forged prescription?

Asked by basically1 almost 12 years ago

Hey basically1 and thanks for the question. I have never worked retail so i have never really come in contact with anyone of that nature. I have seen nurses and even other employees get caught stealing drugs.

Is a complete inventory / audit of all pills behind the counter done regularly? How often do controlled substances go missing?

Asked by JenTabold almost 12 years ago

Yes In my pharmacy its done once a week. Usually there are no narcotics missing. If so they are usually easy to locate. The Narcotics are always under heavy survelliance. Only way they can be taken without us knowing immediately is from the pyxis machines. But even still we can track who took what. That was a really good question. Thank you

Do pharmacies ever have problems with receiving counterfeit or wrong pills from the manufacturer?

Asked by Amber1 over 11 years ago

No. Sometime's a pill might be missing or the bottle broken but never wrong pills. The meds go to a warehouse and then come to us so there is a couple different ways things could get broken. Thank you for the great question.

How often do the wrong pills get put in a bottle, and can a pharmacy be held liable of someone gets sick or injured from that kind of a mistake?

Asked by Cassandra over 11 years ago

It has happened and the drugs have gone out. The pharmacist would get fined depending on the seriosness of the case. Especially if it is a narcotic. Most of the time the patients bring the drugs back and just do an exchange. In some cases though lawsuits have been filed and won by the patient.

Oh, then...what IS a pharmacy technician:) ?
And you can't drop that tidbit without telling at least 1 story about nurses getting busted stealing drugs!

Asked by basically1 almost 12 years ago

A pharmacy technician is an assistant to the pharmacist. There are alot of different areas of pharmacy that have different requirements such as retail, hospital, home infusion etc........As far as the nurse getting busted, She was taking narcotics out of the pyxis medstation and using them while she was actually working. She got.turned in by her coworkers and terminated.

Does it get boring up there behind the counter all day? Have you ever worked with a huge a##hole of a pharmacist?

Asked by BiBi1 over 11 years ago

This is not meant to be racist, just an observation. Why do you think there is such a disproportionate number of pharmacists who are of Indian/Asian descent?

Maybe because everyone is under the same umbrella and follow in their parents footsteps
