I have been a Pharmacy Technician for 7 years at one of the top 10 hospitals in the country. I can tell you anything about anything.
Hey basically1 and thanks for the question. I have never worked retail so i have never really come in contact with anyone of that nature. I have seen nurses and even other employees get caught stealing drugs.
Yes In my pharmacy its done once a week. Usually there are no narcotics missing. If so they are usually easy to locate. The Narcotics are always under heavy survelliance. Only way they can be taken without us knowing immediately is from the pyxis machines. But even still we can track who took what. That was a really good question. Thank you
No. Sometime's a pill might be missing or the bottle broken but never wrong pills. The meds go to a warehouse and then come to us so there is a couple different ways things could get broken. Thank you for the great question.
It has happened and the drugs have gone out. The pharmacist would get fined depending on the seriosness of the case. Especially if it is a narcotic. Most of the time the patients bring the drugs back and just do an exchange. In some cases though lawsuits have been filed and won by the patient.

A pharmacy technician is an assistant to the pharmacist. There are alot of different areas of pharmacy that have different requirements such as retail, hospital, home infusion etc........As far as the nurse getting busted, She was taking narcotics out of the pyxis medstation and using them while she was actually working. She got.turned in by her coworkers and terminated.
Thanks for the question. No it doesnt get boring people are in your face all day. Yes there are a lot of ASSHOLE Pharmacist.
Maybe because everyone is under the same umbrella and follow in their parents footsteps
