Marine Biologist

Marine Biologist

David Aldridge

Southampton, UK

Male, 25

After doing an undergraduate degree in marine biology, I'm now doing a marine biology PhD in the UK at the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton. I love what I do, but, contrary to popular belief, very few marine biologists actually swim with dolphins or spend their days scuba diving. In my spare time I edit a blog on marine science. Below is a link to a blog post I wrote on why I dread telling people I'm a marine biologist. I recommend that you check it out!

I'm doing an EPQ on marine biology and really want an opinion of a professional. In your opinion, what do you think are a few of the most influential marine organisms on human life? I already have written about algae and whales, but I need a few more

I have a wonderful idea to share with you. It might even save lives. Can someone make a capsule, that when broken, released a strong scent of killer whales or dolphins to repel sharks. Could that be established?

I am finishing up my freshman year and I am majoring in Marine Biology. This year I took my first BMZ class (Bio/Micro/Zoo) and I struggled quite a bit. The ocean and the animals in it have always been my passion, but is this the right major for me?!

Hi, I am a 8 years old second grader doing a science experiment on sharks, I really love sharks!
I like to know more about what great white sharks do if the ocean water gets hotter or colder?
I know I can't experiment with real live shark
