Marine Biologist

Marine Biologist

David Aldridge

Southampton, UK

Male, 25

After doing an undergraduate degree in marine biology, I'm now doing a marine biology PhD in the UK at the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton. I love what I do, but, contrary to popular belief, very few marine biologists actually swim with dolphins or spend their days scuba diving. In my spare time I edit a blog on marine science. Below is a link to a blog post I wrote on why I dread telling people I'm a marine biologist. I recommend that you check it out!

Hi ! My names Mia I am thinking of becoming a marine biologist once I graduate high school. I however don't know which specific major I would take intrest in. What I want a career in is perhaps being a vet. for marine life? What would that be called?

I have recently watched a video in which a man replaced the water in his goldfishes fish tank with Hennessy cognac. I myself am not sure if the contents of said fish tank were in fact Hennessy or just a coloured liquid, but it made me wonder if a fish really could survive in Hennessy, and if so, how long it would survive. I’m not particularly sure this question will be of interest/importance to you, or in fact of interest/importance to anyone, but I hope that you can help me understand if this is actually possible.
