I do mobile patrols for a private security company. I get the call to investigate when the alarm goes off: sometimes it's an actual break-in and the bad guys are still there. Other times it's been a moth. I also do welfare checks on places like nursing homes to make sure the staff are all OK, and do the occasional home detainee check to verify that a person on house arrest is still home and that all their monitoring equipment is intact.
We get minimal self defence training when we get our security licence but everyone that works in the industry strongly advises that you train some sort of martial art. Myself I do ju jitsu and muay Thai
It really depends on what area I'm working in. It gets pretty bad in the cbd but the outer suburbs usually arnt to bad
Personally I have not had any trouble with the people on house arrest they are usually pretty good because they know if they get caught tampering with the device in anyway will land then straight back in jail
Haha. As a standard guard. Nothing. Just a radio and a torch. But you can go to one of the various training centers around that will train and issue you with a licence for handcuffs and batons. But that course can exceed $1000

How can you tell if a fire was arson?
as soon as we notice there is intruders on-site. We radio to the base informing them and they will inform the police who usually arnt to far behind. If I think I can handle the situation on my own I will approach them. If not I will wait for another guard to help or the police
